We need your help - to finish the great work that's been started we need HCC to fund us 2018-2021
We've received great support and funding from HCC which has allowed a lot of projects to happen as well as essential behind-the-scenes planning.
To finish the rejuvenation we're asking HCC to fund our work 2018-2021, including developing Queen St.
There's great community momentum and we want to get the job done!
Please show your support with this quick survey:
Please complete by 2 May 2018, and share it with friends & whanau.
Letters of support for the work we've done and the work ahead are also really appreciated: email@example.com

Queen St plan. Created from the community's vision by Love Wainuiomata with support & expertise from HCC.
This Queen St plan allows our community to develop Queen St into a vibrant heart. It's been a big process to get it and is made up of:
+ all the community feedback & vision you've shared and expressed in the Wainuiomata Development Plan
+ a heap of learnings from the 7-day Makeover and other Love Wainuiomata projects
+ expertise and collaboration from the Hutt City Council team, Councillors & Mayor
This plan provides staged development identifying areas as 'units' which can be developed independently of each other whilst still tying together through the use of common materials etc.
The first unit developed is the BBQ Unit on Queen st which is under construction now and will be completed by 4 May 2018. To do any further units we'll need new funding from HCC to be approved. Our request for funding goes in 3 May 2018. Please show your support above by filling out the survey.
If we receive funding the most likely unit to develop after the BBQ will be Unit 1, then Unit 5. We'll consult with our community about what you'd like within each unit.
Possiblities for Unit 1 include a second BBQ (if the first is well used), exercise equipment, play equipment, seating. If we're funded we'll start the discussion in July 2018 with a focus to delivering it in Spring 2018
In addition to community consultation we'll also be working closely with Wainuiomata RSA to develop the areas next to the Cenotaph. We've already started the conversation with Wainuiomata RSA and the more indepth consultation will most likely occur early 2019 looking to deliver 2019-2020 on these 2 'units'.
The gateway units at the start and end of Queen st are really important too. Gateway 1 is about welcoming people in and attracting some of the 180,000 visitors each year who drive into Wainuiomata but aren't currently visiting Queen st/Strand and our local businesses.
It will also be a great way to alert our drivers to it being a pedestrian friendly area. All parking is retained. Our approach is to add great stuff not to take it away :)
Funding will allow 1-3 units per year depending on the costs of each unit and the level of funding. The installation will be managed by HCC as it's on reserve land.
To get that funding we need your support so please fill out the survey and/or email us your letter of support firstname.lastname@example.org before 1st May 2018.
We've got the plan now let's get keep the action going. Go Wainuiomata!

King of the Hill 2016
It was another great King of the Hill for everyone from young to seniors. People walked, jogged and ran to the top of our beautiful hill, Pukeatua.
In the News...
Opened Friday 9 September, come take in the beautiful view of our wonderful region.
"a subdivision hot spot" Dominion Post Business 16 May 2016
Wayne Barton, Professionals Real Estate, confirmed in the article that there's:
“very strong interest in Wainuiomata properties from families and investors”
Wainuiomata’s new Parkway Rise subdivision could offer house packages in as little as three weeks. Wise St is currently being upgraded and its first stage subdivision is due to be finished in August.
This all fits with the Wainuiomata Development Plan to grow the great things about Wainuiomata.
Wainuiomata. Love the lifestyle. Love the people. Love the new housing opportunities for under $400K!

Place: it's a feeling not a location.
Wainuiomata - our beautiful home and a great destination enjoyed by 180 000 visitors each year. The feedback is that all of us want to make the most of Wainuiomata.
So on Monday 2 May 6-8pm we had a public session with the fantastic Placemaking guru: David Engwitch
David was already in NZ working with the Marton community to transform their town and we invited him to share his experiences. It was a fun and inspiring talk that let us see how effective David's 7 Day Makeover process is at engaging people to create spaces they love.
Now we're doing our own 7-Day Makeover here in Queen St Sun 25 Sept - Sat 1 Oct 2016.
Project for Public Spaces describes David as:
"one of the world’s most inventive thinkers and writers on creating vibrant public spaces"
Wainuiomata's Vision for Our Future
Waininuiomata adds a lot to our Wellington region. We have a great lifestyle that's affordable. We've got stunning scenery and lots of recreation and sport. Plus we're just a short train or car ride from our Lower Hutt CDB and capital city. Let's capture this energy and grow.
Our goal? It's more of a feeling...
